6 July 2009 - Still in Troon

We were supposed to be sailing to Tarbert today, but the RIB decided to break down yesterday afternoon. Right now I'm not sure whether it's repairable by Terry, or whether we'll need to replace the whole engine. When it's out of the boat he'll be able to have a look. Everyone here at the marina has been incredibly helpful, particularly Neil Anderson of West Coast Marine Services who is lifting the engine out for us as I write this and who has given us his time and expertise. He has also allowed us to use some of his equipment so that we can get a better idea about what is wrong with it. Either way I guess we will be here for at least the remainder of the week, probably more. It's galling to be held up by boat problems regardless, especially since the weather is perfect, but to make matters worse it's time (and possibly money) we can't really afford.
