Simon Rogers brought Richard Russell from r-p-r to visit. Toby had been cross-eyed whilst trying to identify the fault in my electronics. Richard took one look and was amazed that anything was working. They quickly identified what they thought was the problem only to discover, an hour later, that the fault was in fact a broken cable in the bundle which connects the battery to the control unit. I was hugely relieved as, much as we have grown to love Lymington and Berthon Marina, the thought of having to wait for new parts to arrive from Steve Alvey in Canada was just too much.

The second piece of almost unbelievably good luck came when, after talking to Tony, Paul took out the Harrier tracking device (iridium phone) which had received a severe drenching before we left Dover. After ensuring it was properly dry, he charged the unit up and switched it on. Miraculously it found the network and even managed to ring a mobile phone which was all of 3 feet away. If it is up to sending messages all on its own, it will mean that the tracking device on the internet will become much more interesting.

We've been invited out this evening by Melvin. It will be great to get out of camp and we've even been promised the Wimbledon highlights on the television, so Helen is happy! It's amazing how exhausting doing nothing is, so I will probably find a quiet corner, curl up and go to sleep…
