Well, the “wet team” have all arrived at UKSA, including Sean “The Salmon” Davis who is the newest member of the team. He quickly made himself at home in the bar along with the rest of the team. The boys have managed to shoe horn themselves into the six berth motorhome and seem to be happy so far. They’ve spent the day sorting out the RIB as there are a few things to be done. Helen, Sean and I and have had the dubious pleasure of making an inventory of everything we own. It’s a pretty big list! Sean also took the RIB out with Mike and managed to get 28 knots out of it! It looks like it might be a race around Britain.

The Artemis is back in the water, having left it a week ago last Friday (just) and always looks better when she is afloat, to my eyes anyway. Thanks largely to Mike we have rigged up a system like a cat’s cradle so the keel bulb floats nicely out of the back of the trailer, which should make life a lot easier.

My helmet arrived from Gecko today. It’s bright blue and even brighter pink, so I should be able to be seen from a long way off! Major thanks go to Jeff Sacree and his team down in Bude for sorting it out so quickly. It works on a clever system where you blow air into the helmet lining until it fits perfectly. Once set up you can then inflate and deflate the lining without having to adjust it ever again.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day as we get to discover whether Toby’s boat fixing strategy has actually worked and the main winches are only activated by the winch straw and not by the tiller straw as well…
